ProductCatalogAPI

Production-grade ASP.NET Core Web API with verified concurrency control to prevent inventory overselling.

the problem

During flash sales and high-traffic shopping spikes, simultaneous customer checkout requests trigger severe database race conditions, causing e-commerce engines to oversell remaining stock and forcing painful cancellations.

the solution

Built a clean architecture ASP.NET Core Web API implementing strict database-level concurrency control and atomic inventory transactions. Orders validate available stock under row lock, guaranteeing zero oversold items under concurrent bursts.

the system

Developed on .NET 9.0 LTS with ASP.NET Core Web API. Employs Entity Framework Core with dual-database abstractions: SQLite for instant, zero-dependency testing suites and PostgreSQL for production workloads. Includes AutoMapper DTO projections, FluentValidation pipeline behaviors, Serilog structured JSON logging, and full containerized Docker deployment.

the hard part

Database-level concurrency tokens and atomic transactional operations on product stock balances eliminate overselling. State machines ensure orders transition deterministically between pending, validated, and processed states.

why this stack

.NET 9.0 provides world-class execution performance and strict memory safety; EF Core concurrency tracking eliminates dirty reads and phantom updates; Clean Architecture isolates business domain rules from external data providers.

the innovation

Combining strict EF Core concurrency tracking with Clean Architecture domain boundaries to achieve mathematically verified inventory integrity under simultaneous checkout load.

the potential

High-throughput commerce backbone for high-demand product drops and concurrent retail settlement.
