PCXPay
Cross-border payments infrastructure: one API across stablecoin, Lightning and traditional banking rails.
Businesses moving money across borders lose 3–5% to correspondent banks and wait days for settlement. Building compliant multi-country payment rails in-house takes years of banking partnerships, and every partner brings its own failure modes: duplicate webhooks, partial settlements, and reconciliation gaps that regulators notice.
Spearheaded backend, payments and DevOps work on the platform. Integrated the GTBank Squad gateway end to end, from technical scoping with the bank's engineers through production cutover, owning reconciliation, idempotency and gateway-specific error handling. Built and shipped AWS Lambda payment services in Python across UK, Nigerian and Canadian banking rails, and instrumented the whole fleet with Sentry distributed tracing.
Event-driven microservices on AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, ECS) with Terraform-managed infrastructure and CloudHSM-backed key custody. Webhook-driven reconciliation flips transaction state on gateway callbacks and flags mismatches automatically. Live settlement runs across multiple banking partners under FCA oversight. The platform later spun out as an independent FCA-regulated money transfer operator.
Idempotency keys with TTL windows and Bloom-filter deduplication make repeated webhook deliveries safe: the same callback processed twice produces one ledger effect. Reconciliation is a state machine, so every transaction is in exactly one auditable state.
Python on Lambda keeps each payment concern small, independently deployable and cheap at idle; Terraform makes every environment reproducible; Sentry tracing across services turns a cross-border failure into a single followable trail instead of five log searches.
Treating the bank gateway as an unreliable narrator: every inbound event is verified, deduplicated and reconciled against internal state before money moves, which is what lets the platform operate under FCA scrutiny.
Embedded finance for platforms that need global payouts without building banking partnerships themselves.
